Architects of matter, excellence in every nuance

Meet Anne-Louise Gautier

How did you discover your passion for perfume? At what moment did you know you wanted to make it your career?

During a summer job in an R&D laboratory, I was handling concentrates intended to scent laundry detergents.
Very quickly, I was fascinated by the richness of the scents, their evocative power.

The lab director told me about ISIPCA (Institut Supérieur International du Parfum, de la Cosmétique et de l'Aromatique alimentaire), and that is where it all began.
I dove into books, perfumes, raw materials.

The realization came naturally; I wanted to create perfumes and tell olfactory stories.

What drives you the most in creation? What are your sources of inspiration and your favorite raw materials?

What I love is the freedom to reinvent an emotion, an atmosphere, with every project.
Inspiration can arise from a painting, a piece of music, a memory, a silence.

I have a particular fondness for musks, soft woods, powdery flowers... They allow me to build olfactory cocoons, bubbles of softness.

How do you know when a perfume is complete?

When it finds its balance, when it breathes naturally, effortlessly.
Sometimes, the magic happens from the very first trials; the signature is there, obvious.

Other times, you have to search, refine, listen.
But I believe instinct plays an essential role; you feel when a creation is right.

What appealed to you in the brand's approach?

Sylvaine's vision is deeply sincere.
She loves materials, emotions, subtle contrasts.

Working with her on Dovana was a true creative dialogue: demanding, stimulating, but always supportive.
She pushed me to go further, to refine, to reveal the essential.

What particular challenge did you take on while working on Dovana?

Dovana is a tender musk perfume, almost diaphanous.
The challenge was to maintain this sensation of enveloping softness throughout its evolution, without ever losing its freshness.

I worked with subtle musks, a touch of neroli and mandarin to bring light.
The iris in the heart brings softness and volume. The balance was delicate, but essential.

What emotion would you like people to feel when discovering Dovana?

I would like Dovana to evoke a light embrace, a reassuring breath.
A sensation of cleanliness, of soft skin, of fresh sheets.
A suspended, intimate, soothing moment.

Do you have a striking olfactory memory from your childhood?

The scent of patchouli, a perfume my aunts wore, mingled with cigarette smoke.
This slightly rebellious, yet deeply warm blend evokes a cozy atmosphere, full of love and character.

Finally, what are your passions outside of perfume?

Black and white photography.
I like seeking the balance between shadow and light, capturing the emotion of a moment.
Just as in perfumery, it sometimes takes many trials to get an image just right.
